Muhammad Haris’ maiden century powers Pakistan to sweep series

Muhammad Haris’ maiden century powers Pakistan to sweep series against Bangladesh after winning the 3rd T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 1 June 2025. Bangladesh vs Pakistan 3rd T20I has been played in front of a 29000-plus crowd in Lahore. Muhammad Haris T20I century against Bangladesh in the 3rd T20I was the first by a non-opener batsman in the T20I history of Pakistan. While batting first, Bangladesh set the record total of 196 against Pakistan with a record opening pair partnership of 110 against Pakistan. Muhammad Haris’ record 107, made it easy for Pakistan to cross this huge total in just 17.2 overs.

Bangladesh innings

Bangladesh started their inning brilliantly as their openers did a great job. Tanzid Hasan recorded  explosive 3 sixes and boundaries while making 42 in 32 balls. Similarly, Parvez Hossain Emon was the highest run-scorer for Bangladesh. He made 66 in just 34 balls with the highest strike rate of 194.12 for his team and also smashed 4 sixes. Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the 11th over, and then Captain Litton Das continued the strike and momentum of his team. After losing Parvez Hossain Emon in the 12th over, Towhid Hridoy entered the field and continued the inning with his Captain for the record total in T20Is against Pakistan. After 20 overs and with a loss of 6 wickets, Bangladesh set a record 196 total on the board.

During visitors’ innings, Abbas Afridi and Hassan Ali both managed to bag 2 wickets each for Pakistan. In this way, Hassan Ali took 8 wickets in the Bangladesh vs Pakistan T20I series at home.

Pakistan’s Chase vs Bangladesh

Chasing the target, which is near 200, is always a tough task. But Pakistan’s in-form batters made it easy, especially the contributions of Muhammad Haris were unforgettable. He made the chasing innings so easy through his destructive batting style. Explosive Saim Ayub and aggressive Sahibzada Farhan and  opened the tough chasing innings for Pakistan. Sahibzada Farhan failed to perform in this contest because he was caught by Rishad Hossain off the ball of Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the first over while scoring just 1 run. Then Muhammad Haris entered the ground to rule the pitch.

Saim Ayub made 45 in 29 balls, including 4 destructive sixes in his innings before being caught by Tanzid Hasan on the ball of Tanzim Hasan Sakib in the 10th over. Pakistan was at 100/2 at that stage of the contest as Saim Ayub left the ground, making it easy for the new batters to chase the target. Then Hassan Nawaz entered to contribute his part along with unbeaten aggressive Muhammad Haris to Pakistan’s innings. Hassan Nawaz left the ground in the 13th over after damaging Bangladesh’s bowling attack. While he made 26 in just 13 deliveries, along with 2 sixes at a strike rate of 200.

Haris fastest 100 as non-opener Pakistan

Muhammad Haris completed his century in just 45 balls in the 17th over after taking 2 runs and celebrated it with a smile. Muhammad Haris made an unbeaten 107 runs in just 46 balls with a strike rate of 232.61, and 8 fours and 7 sixes during this tough chase. This was the 2nd fastest 100 for Pakistan in T20I cricket and the fastest 100 at home, and became the Gaddafi Stadium T20 record.

Hassan Nawaz held the record of the fastest T20I century as an opener for Pakistan, which he smashed in just 44 balls against New Zealand in March 2025 in the 3rd T20I against them.

Muhammad Haris century vs Bangladesh resulted in the successful chase, and hence Pakistan won this three-match T20I series at home and was the first series clean sweep under the Captaincy of Salman Ali Agha after 2021.

Pakistan whitewashed Bangladesh in a home series, where Muhammad Haris was the leading run-scorer throughout the series as he made 179 in three contests, along with a 100 in the final match, and was hence awarded as Player of the Series.
