Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals (RR) hits six consecutive sixes in a contest against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday, May 4 at Eden Gardens. Riyan Parag’s six consecutive sixes during the high-pressure and tense situation is the IPL record-breaking knock. Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag’s 6 sixes are a fantastic knock at a crucial time of the inning by a player. This makes him the first player to hit 6 consecutive sixes in IPL. Previously, Chris Gayle, Rinku Singh, and Kieron Pollard had the record of smashing 5 consecutive sixes in IPL and Riyan Parag’s new IPL record breaks these records in this season.
Riyan Parag achieved this feat in a contest while chasing 207 against KKR at Eden Gardens. While batting first, KKR made 206 with the loss of 4 wickets. KKR set this huge total against RR with the explosive 57 runs in 25 balls of Andre Russell. RR struggled due to early losses while chasing a target of 207. R Parag entered the ground in the second over with early two dismissals. RR have managed to reach just 102 with the loss of 5 wickets in 12 overs. 13th over of the inning was bowled by Moeen Ali. First ball of the over was played by Shimron Hetmyer and took a single to give strike to R Parag. Riyan Parag stunned Moeen Ali on his next 4 balls with 4 sixes. Then Moeen Ali bowled a wide delivery to avoid six, but Parag smashed six again on his last ball. Hetmyer again took a single in the 14th over on the very first ball bowled by Varun Chakarvarthy. Parag hit his 6th consecutive six on the 2nd ball of V. Chakarvarthy. This made Riyan Parag’s six consecutive sixes an iconic IPL record in history.

Riyan Parag’s batting performance vs KKR is very important during the chase. He played a brilliant knock during a high-pressure match. He nearly missed the opportunity to make the century. He played a memorable knock of 95 in just 45 balls with 6 fours and 8 sixes before being ended up in the 18th over by Harshit Rana. Unfortunately, his team (RR) scored 205 runs with the loss of 8 wickets and lost the match by just one run.
Previously, Chris Gayle had the record of hitting five consecutive sixes. He achieved this feat in the 2012 IPL while playing for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Pune Warriors (PW). During the chase of 183 runs against PW, the required run-rate reached 13.37 in 12 overs, demanding to do something different. Gayle smashed 5 consecutive sixes in a tense situation against Rahul Sharma’s bowling. RCB won this contest on the last delivery.

Kieron Pollard also had the history of smashing 5 consecutive sixes in a row during the run chase while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2013 at Wankhede against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Similarly, Rinku Singh repeated the history of hitting 5 consecutive sixes in IPL 2023 while playing for KKR against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Ahmadabad. He smashed 5 sixes on the last 5 deliveries of the final over, requiring 28 runs on 5 balls. He astonished the opposition with a successful 205-run chase.
Although RR lost the match, Riyan Parag made history in the Indian Premier League by smashing 6 sixes on consecutive deliveries. Riyan Parag’s record is one of the IPL records which are broken in the 2025 season and became a part of history.
