Vaibhav Suryavanshi Recorded as the Youngest Centurion in T20 Cricket
The Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batter and the youngest player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, just 14 years old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, recorded as the youngest centurion in T20 cricket. He played his only 3rd game for the Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, 28 April 2025. In this game, he smashed a 35-ball 100, which is the IPL 2025 youngest player century. Rajasthan Royals’ new player, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century is the second fastest century by a player in IPL history after Chris Gayle, who made a 30-ball 100 while playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2013 against Pune Warriors. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century is the record fastest century by an Indian in the IPL. Previously, an Indian all-rounder, Yusuf Pathan, had the record of making 37-ball century in 2010 against the Mumbai Indians (MI) while also playing for the Rajasthan Royals.
The 14-year-old IPL player’s century is a landmark achievement in the history of IPL. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century consisted of 11 huge sixes and 7 fours. The most sixes in a contest of IPL is also a record in the history of IPL by an Indian. In this way, he made 94 runs of his 101 through boundaries. David Miller is also in the list of fastest IPL centurions who scored his ton in just 38 balls while playing for Kings XI Punjab against RCB in 2013. Vaibhav Suryavanshi equals the record by smashing 11 sixes in an inning of the IPL of another Indian player, Murali Vijay of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who hit 11 sixes in 2010 against RR.

RR won this IPL contest against GT and chased 209 runs in just 15.5 overs while losing just 2 wickets. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s century helped RR to win this must-win contest easily. Also, his opening fellow, Yashasvi Jaiswal of RR, made explosive 70 runs in just 40 balls in this clash of RR and GT on Monday and remained not out throughout the inning. V. Suryavanshi was bowled by Prasidh Krishna on 101 runs in 38 balls. V. Suryavanshi played this inning with an impressive strike rate of 265.79.

Suryavanshi was picked by RR at the mega auction of IPL 2025 for an amount of 1.10 crore in November 2024. He started his IPL 2025 campaign on 19 April 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for RR at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. He smashed 34 runs in his opening IPL match with 3 sixes and 2 fours. He played his 2nd IPL 2025 contest against RCB on 24 April at M Chinnaswamy Stadium and made just 16 runs with 2 sixes. Now this was his 3rd match against GT in which he scripted history and became the youngest fastest centurion in men’s T20 cricket.
Suryavanshi won the man of the match award in this game and became the youngest player to win this award. His record-breaking 100 helped his team to win their 10th IPL match. Till now, RR has won just 3 matches out of 10. The rising star of RR has the potential to perform in this way to help his team to win the remaining four games of this tournament.
