RCB won their first IPL title after 18 years

RCB won their first IPL title after 18 years on 5 May 2025, after defeating Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings.  Indian Premier League season 2025′ final was contested  at Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday. The RCB vs Punjab Kings final 2025 was important for both the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings. Neither Royal Challengers Bengaluru nor Punjab Kings have won any IPL trophy before this. Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their maiden IPL trophy with emotional final moments of the game. The star batter of RCB, Virat Kohli, celebrated this win with the previous legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle. These star batters made a lot of contributions to the RCB franchise.

How RCB won IPL 2025 final match

RCB vs PbKs final 2025 was played in front of a roaring crowd of cricket-loving nation. Punjab Kings won the toss and decided to give chance to RCB to bat first.

The legendary Virat Kohli and inform Phil Salt started the journey of glory for RCB in the final of IPL 2025. Kyle Jamieson got the big wicket of dangerous Phil Salt in the second over. Phil Salt has started the innings with explosive 16 runs including 2 fours and one six at that moment. Mayank Agarwal along with Virat Kohli continued the innings of RCB after this. He made 24 in 18 balls before being knocked out by Yuzvendra Chahal in the 7th over.

The captain of RCB, Rajat Patidar, continued the momentum of the game after losing 2 wickets. He contributed in RCB’ batting line with 26 runs featuring with 2 sixes. Kyle Jamieson knocked out Rajat Patidar in the 11th over when RCB were at 96/3. RCB’s Liam Livingstone made a crucial partnership with Virat of 35 runs. Azamtullah Omarzai got the wicket of legendary batter Virat Kohli in the 15th over. Virat made the highest runs for RCB in the final, which were 43.

Livingstone made a remarkable contribution of 25 runs in 15 balls with a 166.67 strike rate. Jamieson performed well again and hunted dangerous Livingstone in the 17th over. Due to Jitesh Sharma explosive 24 runs in just 10 deliveries, RCB made 171 till the 18th over. Vijay Kumar took the wicket of J Sharma in the 18th over. Romario Shepherd helped RCB with his notable 17 runs to set a total of 190 for Kings in 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh and Kyle Jamieson both took 3 wickets each for Punjab Kings.

Punjab Kings Chase

Punjab Kings’ opening pair, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, gave them a great start. They made a partnership of 43 runs in 5 overs. Priyansh Arya made 24 runs with 4 fours. Josh Hazlewood got the wicket of P Arya on the last ball of the 5th over. Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis took the Kings’ journey of chase up to 72 runs in the 9th over. P Singh made 26 with 2 sixes, and Krunal Pandya took his wicket.

The captain of the Kings, Shreyas Iyer, gave his wicket while making just one run to Romario Shepherd. This was the turning point in the game, and RCB put pressure on the Kings after that. Josh Inglis made 39 with 4 explosive sixes for Kings. Krunal Pandya took his crucial wicket at the key moment of the game when the Kings were at 98.

Nehal Wadhera lost his wicket in the 17th over while contributing just 15 runs to his side. Now, Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis took the responsibility of chasing when the required run rate was too high. But Stoinis lost his wicket after smashing just one six on the ball of an experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shashank Singh tried a lot to complete the target, but the mounting required rate won. He played a brilliant knock of  61 runs in 30 balls and took the Kings up to 184.

RCB won IPL 2025 at Ahmadabad after defeating Punjab Kings in the final by six runs. Virat Kohli broke down in tears during the winning moments, as this meant a lot to him.

RCB Road to Glory of IPL 2025

RCB started the journey of the mega event of cricket with a success over the Kolkata Knight Riders. They won their second game against their famous rival, Chennai Super Kings. Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost their 3rd contest against Gujarat Titans. Then, RCB fought back in their 4th game against the Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals gave them a tough time in the next game and won by 6 wickets.

The title winner, RCB, won their 6th contest against the Rajasthan Royals. The runner-up of IPL 2025 won against RCB in the 34th contest of the tournament. But RCB fought back against PbKs in their 8th game. Patidar-led RCB won again against RR in their 9th campaign. During their 10th game, RCB equaled their fight against DC after the previous loss. They made history against CSK after winning twice in the same tournament during contest number 52. RCB played their last group stage contest against Lucknow Super Giants of IPL 2025 and won it.

Play-off of IPL 2025

After winning 9 games, RCB took the 2nd place on the points table after Punjab Kings. They faced the Punjab Kings in the play-off contest and secured their position in the final after winning it. Punjab Kings won against MI in the play-off to fight against RCB in the final.

This was the fourth time that RCB qualified for the final in the history of the IPL. RCB, the runners-up in the 2009, 2011, and 2016 seasons, made history after their maiden IPL title win in 2025 season.
